According to a news release, the Community Blood Center, an affiliate of the NCH Healthcare System, is experiencing a critical blood shortage for type O+ and O- blood types. “This may be the most important 45 minutes a blood donor spends on something,” said Laura Rosen, Community Relations Manager at the Community Blood Center. “Most of us spend time watching TV or working on the computer. Type O donors are encouraged to take time out now to give blood so that Collier County’s patients will have the blood that they need,” Rosen said.

The Community Foundation of Collier County elected Bill Thomas as chairman of the Board of Trustees. Thomas served as the foundation’s vice chairman. He takes over for the previous chair, Scott Alexander, who was transferred in December to Northern Trust in Vero Beach.
