Mary Seaton Breese’s gift was honored Thursday during a ceremony, in which her name was placed on the Tree of Knowledge in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Administrative Center, 5775 Osceola Trail.
The Education Foundation has received legacy pledges before but Breese’s pledge is the largest pledge the organization has received to date.
“We are very excited that Mary made a gift to give something to the teachers in Collier County,” said Susan McManus, president of The Education Foundation of Collier County.

According to a news release, the Community Blood Center, an affiliate of the NCH Healthcare System, is celebrating January being National Volunteer Blood Donor Month by partnering with local businesses who are offering fun venues, great donor gifts and raffle prizes for participating blood donors. The Community Blood Center’s goal is to encourage more people to give blood and make lifesaving a habit.

Physicians Regional Medical Center at Pine Ridge has received state permission to perform elective cardiac stenting for patients with blocked arteries, an approval that comes three years after the hospital began seeking the license. The state Agency for Health Care Administration notified the 83-bed hospital on Napa Boulevard in North Naples last week, said Geoffrey Moebius, chief executive officer of the hospital.
