Tropical moisture will be increasing across Southwest Florida today and continuing for the next few days.
Although many showers and storms have drifted deep inland and over to the other side of the state this afternoon, there will be a few more showers that could roll in off the Gulf of Mexico near day’s end or tonight.
A rather quiet day comes to a close with just an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon and early this evening.
With plenty of moisture around and an onshore flow, expect hit and miss showers and storms to continue to roll into our area.
Stormy weather off Fort Myers Beach kicked up a waterspout in the Gulf of Mexico Friday morning.
A persistent onshore wind has set up across south Florida and we will continue to see showers and thunderstorms move in from the Gulf.
There is a weak area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico that will move across northern Florida today, helping to keep the rain chance high today.
Warm and humid weather will continue in southwest Florida. Expect daytime high temperatures to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s through the weekend.
High temperatures are headed to near 90 degrees, but the humidity will make it feel like we are near 100 degrees again.
Shower and thunderstorms are in the forecast again and that rain chance can come at any time during the day.
About 40% of the area gets wet at some point this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low-middle 90s once again.
The heat and humidity will continue today as temperatures will warm into the mid 90s for highs and the heat index will soar to near 110 degrees.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, the computer models want to spin up more clouds and a 70-percent chance of rain for us. That would mean that we will finally get back to more “normal” temperatures for this time of year.
