Severe weather caused two accidents on the water in Lee and Charlotte counties.

David Haag remembers hearing a noise as he and companion Cheryl Robb sat on their Willamette River, Oregon deck just after midnight on Saturday. They knew something wasn’t right.

Santini Plaza is a short walk away, and includes seven restaurants/bars plus many shops. You really will not need to drive once you get to the resort, and if you do drive, the traffic is much better here on the South End of the Island. You will have a great time!! <p

A bid protest is delaying the start of a long-awaited dredging project at Wiggins Pass, where sand shoals have created a boating hazard. The hitch has one marina manager worried about the delay exacerbating what he calls a “critical safety issue” as seasonal residents return and boat traffic at the pass increases. “I just pray nobody gets hurt,” Pelican Isle Yacht Club marina manager John Findley said.

We’ll see lots of sunshine and temperatures will warm into the mid 70s this afternoon. Even the boating conditions will be nice today.

Collier County Commissioner Donna Fiala visited the Rotary Club of Marco Island Thursday, addressing several island issues. Among the topics covered were legal ownership of Bald Eagle Drive, upgrades to island area boating facilities and landscaping improvements.

Interesting ads in today’s News-Press (Sunday 9/21/08) for the Key West Ferry.
